JAI SHREE RAM

---

WAKING UP TO CHINA’S MENACING COMMUNIST SPHERE OF INFLUENCE
RAM MADHAV

Recently, the White House National Security Advisor, Robert C O’Brien was in Phoenix, Arizona to address a meeting hosted by the Governor, Doug Ducey. The Communist Party of China was O’Brien’s focus. He also announced that his remarks were going to be the first ‘of several speeches senior Administration officials will give on this matter over next few weeks’. He named Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Chris Wray as the ones to follow. Clearly, the Trump administration is trying to make China the central campaign issue in the presidential elections later this year.
O’Brien talked about the ideology of the Communist Party of China – CPC, and how the Americans have failed to grasp it fully. He described President Xi Jinping as the successor of Joseph Stalin, who was responsible for the death of over 20 million Russians during his regime in the Soviet Union. “The Chinese Communist Party seeks total control over the people’s lives. This means economic control, it means political control, it means physical control, and, perhaps most importantly, it means thought control”, the NSA said.
O’Brien was right. The CPC obsessively wants to control not just the actions, but even the thinking of the Chinese people. China is an ancient civilisation. It is home to great religions like Taoism and Buddhism and philosophies like Confucianism. Yet, the CPC is driven by none of these. For the CPC, China should be driven by the Marxist-Leninist thought and the country’s history of the armed struggle culminating in the establishment of the Communist regime in 1949 under Mao Tse Tung’s leadership.
The Marxist ideology of proletarian dictatorship, in which man exists only to serve the state, has been rejected by the entire world. It met with its Waterloo in the Soviet Union in just seven decades. All other countries too have rejected this totalitarian ideology. Yet, the ‘Communism with Chinese characteristic’ is still kicking in the CPC-led China. Stalinist brutality and Maoist ruthless control are the order of the day in Xi’s regime.
CPC’s most powerful tool is propaganda. In China, it goes on relentlessly. Every mobile phone comes with an app proclaiming Xi Jinping Thought. Reeducation has been made mandatory to all the cadres. Party schools flourish all over the country. For those like the hapless Uighur in Xinjiang, concentration camps and forced reeducation are the way. While the Uighur elders languish in concentration camps, their offspring are at the mercy of the party in its orphanages.
But under Xi, the export of this thought has returned to the Stalinist era intensity. Many Chinese universities have tied up with universities in the west, especially in America, to run collaborative centres that spread Chinese propaganda in the academic world. Several of the Ivy League universities have such Chinese-funded programs. There are countless radio stations and podcasts that constantly blare pro-China cacophony. The Chinese Global Television Network has spread its tentacles far and wide. Confucius centres have mushroomed in hundreds all over the world. We must also note that the CPC’s influence extends to many UN organisations. At least four UN organisations are headed by the Chinese today. The other four permanent members together don’t head as many. This kind of intense global engagement was the norm during the Cold War era. The Soviets and the Americans had competed with each other for influence across the world. In America, this was a major scare in the 1940s and 50s. The famous Eisenhower Doctrine proclaimed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1957, had focused on securing nations from the aggression of the ‘international communism’. Eisenhower doctrine came as a follow up to the much-maligned ‘McCarthyism’, that refers to the Red Scare generated by the Republican Congressman Joseph McCarthy in 1940s and 50s. While McCarthy was decried and dismissed for his sweeping and unsubstantiated scare-mongering, there was a serious realisation about the danger of Soviet Communism spreading its tentacles in many countries in the world. Eisenhower Doctrine was a result of that realisation. The very same fears seem to have returned to America today.
In the past, countries like Indonesia have launched massive and brutal purges to eliminate any traces of Communism from their soil. General Suharto had launched an infamous campaign against communism in the 1960s that led to the deaths of an estimated one million Communist sympathisers and cadres. Having erased Communism from Indonesia in a most savage manner, President Suharto had built a Museum of Communist Treachery at LubangBuaya on the outskirts of Jakarta that exists even to this day.
India too had been a victim of these pernicious influences of Communism that had harmed national interest on many occasions. Jawahar Lal Nehru was among the first senior leaders to have openly professed love for Communism. Mahatma Gandhi, however, was categorical about his dislike for it. Calling Socialism and Communism as western ideas that are “fundamentally different from ours”, Gandhi declared “I do not subscribe to it”.
Nehru, on the other hand, had openly articulated his fascination with Communism. In his autobiography, Toward Freedom, Nehru wrote, “… the theory and philosophy of Marxism lightened up many a dark corner of my mind…… I was filled with a new excitement”. The Soviets were the first to find a soft target in Nehru. He was invited to Moscow in 1927 to attend the first decennial of the October Revolution, together with his family including Motilal Nehru. The Soviets had turned their attention to Indira Gandhi when she accompanied her father to Moscow in 1953. That relationship continued and got extended to Rajiv Gandhi. Mitrokhin Archive graphically reveals how both Indira and Rajiv benefitted from the Soviet largesse and how Rajiv had thanked them for the monetary support for his family.
It naturally intrigues everyone that Rahul Gandhi signs an MoU with the CPC on Congress party’s behalf and the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation receives large sums from them. Time to remember that the CPC’s stated objective is creating a “community of common destiny of mankind” – that common destiny being the ‘Xi Jinping Thought’. http://chintan.indiafoundation.in/articles/waking-up-to-chinas-menacing-communist-sphere-of-influence/?fbclid=IwAR19gmjGGfyry_28brILGYOygioTpF-_MUCyayqh1nA3NbZkt_4fTYByDGc

2. BRAVERY OF OUR JAWANS IN LADAKH: The entire country comes together in paying tributes to the bravery of our jawans who attained martyrdom in Ladakh. The entire country bows to them in reverence, with gratitude. Just like their family members, every Bharatiya painfully regrets the loss. The inner sense of pride that families feel on the supreme sacrifice of their brave sons…their sentiment for the country, constitutes the true power, the might of the country. You might have seen parents of martyrs referring to sending other sons, other young family members too, to join the army. The words of the father of Shaheed Kundan Kumar of Bihar, keep echoing. He had mentioned sending even his grandsons to the army to defend the country. This spirit permeates across all martyr families. Truly, the sense of sacrifice displayed by these family members is worthy of veneration. The resolve with which our jawans made the supreme sacrifice for the security of Mother Bharat, should be the aim of our lives….and this applies to each and every one of us. Our pursuits and endeavours should be in the same direction…we should strive towards enhancing the country’s capabilities and capacities in safeguarding our borders. – An excerpt from Pradhan Mantri Narenedra Modi’s ‘Mann kiBaat’ broadcast on June 28. -GoTop

5. BHARATIYA ARMY’S TRIBUTE TO BIHAR REGIMENT: Bharatiya Army has tweeted a video paying tributes to the soldiers of the Bihar Regiment and appeared to take a dig at China after June 15’s violent skirmish at Galwan Valley in Ladakh. The tweet along with a video on June 20 came after Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi saluted the 20 soldiers of the Bihar Regiment who were killed by Chinese troops in Galwan Valley on Monday, June 15. “The Saga of #DhruvaWarriors and The Lions of #BiharRegiment. Born to fight. They are not the bats. They are the Batman. After every #Monday, there will be a #Tuesday. Bajrang Bali Ki Jai,” the Northern Command tweeted.
Monday seems like a reference to the day the 20 soldiers of Bihar Regiment were killed by China’s People’s Liberation Army and Jai Bajrang Bali or Victory to Bajrang Bali is its war cry.The nearly two-minute video talks about the difficult missions taken by the infantry regiment from 1857 to 1999, when Bihar Regiment’s 1st battalion captured a strategic point in Kargil from the Pakistani army. The video also pays tribute to Colonel Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of 16 Bihar Regiment, who was among the 20 soldiers killed in the hours-long brutal hand-to-hand combat late on June 15. -GoTop

GLOVES ARE OFF: WITH THE GALWAN VALLEY CLASH, CHINA PUSHED TOO HARD. BHARAT MUST PUSH BACK

In the most serious incident at the LAC in 45 years, several Bharatiya soldiers – including a colonel – were killed in clashes with Chinese troops in Galwan valley. Sources say there were casualties on the Chinese side too but numbers are unclear. The skirmish appears to have been physical in nature without shots being fired. Nonetheless, they were brutal enough to dash any hopes of restoring the status quo ante on the LAC.
The timing of the Chinese aggression and Beijing’s assertive claims in the Galwan valley appear to be part of a strategy to remind Bharat of its vulnerabilities. The run-up to the 1962 war had also seen New Delhi and Beijing accuse each other’s troops of trespassing in Galwan valley. Thus, Beijing could be using the latest Galwan valley standoff to push Bharat’s psychological buttons by reminding it of 1962. It could be a warning to Bharat not to join the diplomatic chorus, absolutely legitimate, for an independent investigation of coronavirus’s origins. By getting New Delhi to kowtow to its diplomatic positions, Beijing would also be sending a strong signal to other neighbouring countries about who holds the whip hand in Asia, and get them to fall in line.
If this is the case then Bharat, as a proud nation, should do exactly what the Chinese don’t want and undertake diplomatic countermeasures against Beijing. It could denounce the revocation of Hong Kong’s autonomy, and criticise human rights violations in Xinjiang and Tibet. It could rapidly raise official diplomatic engagements with Taipei. And it must work more closely with Indo-Pacific democracies trying to balance Chinese power across the region.
Additionally, we should give China a taste of its own medicine and weaponise trade by imposing sanctions against Chinese imports. Beijing can’t kill our soldiers at the LAC and expect to benefit from our huge market. Meanwhile, pressing Beijing on Covid-19 at the WHO was anyway necessary and New Delhi as the new chair of the global health body’s executive board should fully back this initiative. Finally, since Beijing itself has violated the 1993 agreement to maintain peace and tranquility at the LAC, and has not been serious about demarcating the border despite numerous rounds of talks, it is time for the Bharatiya army too to have operational plans in place to respond to Chinese encroachments with its own cross-LAC manoeuvres. REMEMBERING DR. KESHAV BALIRAM HEDGEWAR AND HIS MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES!
Sunil Khedkar

It is the Punyateethi or death anniversary (21 June) of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, founder and the first Sarsanghachalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
He died eighty years ago and the organization founded by him is 95 years old now. The same organization is well known across the globe and is present across the world. Doctorji, as he was known fondly by fellow swayamsevaks and people in the society had to go through hardships right from his childhood. He befriended with many influential people across society and geographies.
The biography written in Marathi by Shri N H (Nanarao) Palkar is accepted as an official one. Many Sangh functionaries say that, whenever we feel down, dejected, or get stuck, we read Doctorji biography written by Nanarao Palkar.
I have heard lot of Doctorji’s stories during my childhood in sayam shakha, thereafter as I grew, I could comprehend his thoughts, the thought process, organization skills, his vision attentiveness and yet I am in the process of comprehending these things during my journey as a swayamsevak. Each Sangh or Sangh thought inspired Institutions, campaigns, projects have an origin in the life he lived. Today’s social activities or offering Sewa, Awareness about being Hindu, Social harmony, Ram Temple construction, Promoting Sanskrit language , Nurturing family values , Connecting with people, Developing persons, Caring the each and every constituent or Swayamsevak, Approach of collaboration but if its inevitable plan, Prepare for a confrontation or a fight, Think long term , Plan programs for activating the functionaries, Training programmes, the meetings , all these which I remember today and I could understand. And there are many which I am not yet aware of or could not comprehend!
Many management concepts are deeply rooted in Sangh, let us look at some of them-
Human is a resource – all the Sangh activities and objectives are Human centric or for Vyakti Nirman , development of an individual.
Participation- Distribution of work amongst swayamsevaks even for a smallest and a shortest program at the lowest level.
Involvement- Solicit, receive suggestions from functionaries, brainstorm, think on those, and act where possible.
Management by Meeting- A Swayamsevak gets developed in a Shakha, A Karyakarta or a functionary gets developed in a series of meetings because, in meetings diversely opposite ideas are put forth, discussed for its pros and cons and finally a decision is arrived. Once a decision is arrived everybody works to implement decision taken about a program. If a decision is otherwise, all the plans to start a program is shelved without any grudge and the team moves forward.
Management by Objectives- Define qualitative and quantitative objectives , plan to achieve the objectives , all the concerned work to achieve the objectives , conduct periodic review to assess the progress and do course correction if required.
Team effort- all the games in shakhas are to inculcate this value of teamwork, because of work is distributed amongst may, there is never a one man show! I
Leadership- Leadership by example , leading from the front , live by example.
Management Skills- it is experienced time and again , the annual program of all Bharat leadership is designed in the beginning of the year. Annual, quarterly, monthly schedules are prepared and adhered to according to the geographic spread and hierarchical level. While many are working for pandemic relief equal number , many are engaged to plan for holding Gurupujan Utsav!
Time Management- Plan , schedule the programs, activities should be based on available time, find time to work, act accordingly tirelessly.
Feedback mechanism - Muktachaintan sessions or free discussions, expressions, manifestations without agenda , informal meetings, general chat are the different ways to seek feedback.
Lastly the famous Deming Cycle of PDCA or Plan-Do- Check -Act.: Plan activities; Do as per plan
Check for results achieved and review; Act as per review to ensure correction or improvement.
The list is long, but this is adequate to narrate Doctorji’s greatness!
