1 .FESTIVALS: Shri Guru Poornima, the full moon day of the
Hindu month Aashaadha, falling on July 3 this year, is dedicated to the
devotional worship of the Guru – the preceptor Sage Vyasa. The composer of Brahmasootras, the great epic
Mahaabhaarat and the Bhaagavata he is also looked upon as the supreme preceptor
of mankind. The Guru in the Hindu tradition is looked upon as an embodiment of
God himself. The preceptor for a whole society should be able to act as a
perennial source of inspiration to the people, embodying the highest and the
noblest national values and ethos. To the Hindu people, such a Guru can be no
other than the sacred Bhagwa Dhwaj. Worship of this Bhagwa Dhwaj on this Guru
Poornima day is intended to instil in us a positive Hindu attitude towards life.

3. TRITEEYA VARSHA VARGA: “In 1994 Samsad passed a unanimous
resolution that whole of Kashmir, including PoK, were indivisible parts of
Bharat and that we have to get back the areas illegally under Pakistan’s
occupation. But after that subsequent governments have done nothing in the last
18 years to gain control of PoK,” said RSS
Sarasanghchalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat on June 11 addressing more than 1000
swayamsevaks who completed their third year course at Nagpur. “The country
today faces several serious problems. None of them is insurmountable. We need
to evolve a society that values nationalism and patriotism above individuals
and unity to resolve these problems created by political parties that work under
vote bank pressures instead of national interests,’ added Shri Bhagwat. Commenting
on the pay hike to mullahs and mezzins of mosques in West
Bengal, Shri Bhagwat exhorted, “There is need to get beyond such
appeasement of one section or another and think in terms of policies that would
bring real development touching all.”

The armed forces are finally set to get their first-ever dedicated military
satellite, a naval surveillance and communications one, as part of their long-standing
quest to effectively harness the final frontier of space. The geo-stationary
naval satellite has "already been shipped out'' for its launch that will
take place "within a month or so", government sources said. The
satellite, with an over 1,000 nautical mile footprint over the Indian Ocean
Region (IOR) stretching from Africa's east coast right till Malacca Strait, will
enable the Navy to network all its warships, submarines and aircraft with
operational centres ashore through high-speed data-links.
The long-delayed naval satellite is to be followed by ones
for the Army and IAF for "over-the-land use''. In absence of dedicated
satellites, the armed forces have so far depended on "dual-use'' Bharatiya
satellites as well as lease of transponders on foreign ones for their
navigation, communication, surveillance and reconnaissance purposes. The naval
satellite is a step in the right direction.

‘THE NEED OF THE HOUR’ - AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON JAMMU &
KASHMIR
Majority of ordinary Bharatiyas are emotionally attached to
J&K and want it as an integral part of Bharat. Most of the intellectuals in
Bharat are in a defeatist mood and suggest that we should leave Kashmir and move on. The year 2012 is the year of Bharat
in J&K. We had two such situations
earlier as well when the J&K could have been easily integrated with Bharat.
The first was in 1947 when there was no sense of alienation and we could have
extended the entire Bharatiya
constitution to J&K. The second time was in 1971 when 94000
Pakistani troops surrendered to Bharatiya Army and the Kashmiris were
disillusioned with Pakistan.
The political leadership of Bharat
failed to capitalize both these occasions.
Today, terrorism in Kashmir is in its final days and there
is no live support structure for terrorists in J&K. Separatists have
learned three important things:-
1. Bharat wouldn’t give up J&K. If they want to
live in J&K, they have to live in Bharat.
2. Bharat cannot
be defeated or made to bow down through arms struggle.
3. Nationalists of
J&K cannot be taken for granted. Amarnath agitation was the turning point
in the struggle between Nationalist and Separatist forces.
The current socio-political milieu is very favourable for
the nationalist forces. The ruling party requires support of the MLAs from Jammu and Ladakh to
remain in power. All the major parties have equal support in Kashmir Valley.
There are many differences amongst the separatist leaders and groups. A nation wide information/ awareness campaign
covering the seven points mentioned below about J&K is to be taken up. This
campaign should reach all sections of society particularly intellectuals, media
and opinion makers.
B. We have to spread
2 important points about J&K: – for this we have to change the discourse on
J&K.
C. We need to have a
pro-active agenda for J&K.
There are four myths prevalent about J&K.:
1. Myth of Separatism: Everyone think of J&K as a
separatist and anti-Bharatiya state. This
is a wrong notion. Separatists are active only in Kashmir.
Kashmir is the smallest region of the state
with a Muslim-majority. All the separatist leaders are from a single community
– Kashmiri speaking Sunni Muslims. All the other communities including Gujjar, Pahadi
and Shia Muslims are fighting against the separatism and so-called alienation.
2. Myth of Dispute: There is a big confusion about merger of
J&K with Bharat even in the minds of
the senior leaders of our nation. Raja Hari Singh of J&K signed a document
of accession which was the standard format used for the accession of all the
other Princely states with Bharat. This was unconditional. The only document which talks about asking
the wishes of people is a letter from Lord Mountbatten – this is not a
collateral document and hence not legally substantial. On 6th February 1954, the
J&K Constituent Assembly (duly elected by people of J&K) ratified the
accession of J&K to Bharat. Hence, legally and constitutionally, J&K is
an integral part of J&K Bharat.
3. Myth of Plebiscite: There is a general belief among
intellectuals of Bharat that we have committed for a plebiscite in UN. There is
no such commitment. Bharat complained on 1st January 1948 to UN Security Council
under UN Charter 35 to force Pakistan
to withdraw their aggression from our lands. In 1958, UN Security Council
proposed a resolution which called for unconditional withdrawal of Pakistan forces
from POK, disbanding of AJK government, extension of J&K Government to AJK,
resettling all the Bharatiyas who were forced to leave AJK, Bharat to move
required number of forces and J&K Government to conduct plebiscite under
the supervision of UN Plebiscite Commissioner. Pakistan did not agree and act upon
this UN proposal; hence there is no need for Bharat to carry on any plebiscite.
4. Myth of Autonomy: The only purpose of Article 370 is to
extend the union constitution to J&K. It neither gives special status nor
guarantees autonomy for J&K. The heading of Article itself says it is
temporary and this needs to be repealed. It was only a political fraud to keep
the so-called Kashmir separatism alive.
There is a need to change the discourse on J&K from Kashmir to POK. The nation should made aware of two
important points about J&K:
1. The current POK is
very important for Bharat’s security and economic growth. To illustrate, Gilgit
(Baltistan) is the only place on the earth which was the meeting place of 6
empires. For the past 2400 years, except for the British, all invasions on
Bharat were through Gilgit. If Gilgit is safe, it means Bharat is safe. Gilgit
lies on the ‘Silk Route’.
Gilgit is connected by road to many important cities of the world such as Moscow, Iran,
Dubai and London.
Through Gilgit, we can get gas through pipelines from Tajikistan.
2. The entire people
of J&K are the real victims, not just the Kashmiri Muslims. In particular, there
are more than 20 lakh refugees from J&K who have lost their homes. This
also includes 4 lakh Kashmiri Pandits who became refugees in 1990s. More than 10
lakh refugees came from POK during 1947 war and many more were affected by
terrorism. Many good provisions of Bharatiya constitution are not extended to J&K.
For example, in Jammu
and Ladakh, there was no reservation for SCs till 2007.
There is a feeling among nationalist people that the
problems are created, nurtured and carried on by Delhi. Whenever the time was ripe for
integrating J&K with Bharat or abrogation of Article 370, the Central
Government has miserably failed. Even now, interlocutors sent by the Government
have come out with recommendations that are not only anti-national but also
contradict the stand taken by the Government itself. Some of their
recommendations are: -
• POK called as
Pakistan Administered Kashmir (only separatists call POK by this name)
• Review of all
laws extended after 1952
• Article 370 to be
made permanent
• Appointment of
Governor to be made on the recommendation of the State Government
• Withdrawal of the
IAS/IPS officers appointed by GOI
These recommendations not only weaken Bharat’s stand in the
international arena but also dilute its sovereignty on J&K. Every section
of the society should be made aware of the anti-national nature of these
recommendations and should be opposed.
Some Facts : In
the last 20 years of war against terrorism, 5000 soldiers have sacrificed their
life; 85000 AK47s and 1 lakh KG of RDX has been confiscated.
b. 85% of area of J&K
state is Hindu and Buddhist majority.
c. Independence Day
and Republic Day are the most celebrated public programmes of Jammu and Ladakh regions.
d. The J&K
Maharaja used to pay only four goats and four Kashmiri Shawls for paramountcy
to Britishers.
e. Lord Mountbatten
accepted the accession of J&K with Bharat and so was not given an audience
with the British Crown till his death.
f. Krishna Menon spoke for 8 hours in UN Security council on
J&K on 23rd Jan 1957. This speech answers all the legal and constitutional
questions on J&K.
g. 26th October (Kashmir’s
accession to Bharat) and 22nd February (Parliament unanimously passed a
resolution of taking back POK) should be celebrated as Kashmir
day and Sankalp Diwas respectively all over the nation.
h. Prem Shankar
Jha’s ‘Kashmir 1947: The Origin of Dispute’ discusses the circumstances and
Anglo Saxon diplomatic conspiracy which created the Kashmir
‘dispute’. (Excerpts from talk given by Shri Arun Kumar – sah sampark pramukh
RSS in Chennai recently.)
MARXISTS’ BRUTAL INTOLERANCE
Balbir K Punj
The communists have a long history of bloodshed. From Russia to China
to India,
they have used murder to silence their critics.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, now out of
power in the State, is showing its true colours, soaked in the blood of its
political rivals. Even as the people were in shock over the brutal daylight
killing of dissident Marxist leader TP Chandrasekharan in north Malabar area, Idukki
district secretary MM Mani declared publicly that not only had the Marxist
party murdered several inconvenient party leaders in the past, it would
continue to do so in the future. He even boasted that they had a list of such
potential victims.
“In 1982, what had we done? We had prepared a list.” Mr Mani
named the people in the list and detailed how each one in that list was done
away with.
That the Marxist leader was publicly taking credit for such
killings and also warning that his party would kill more if need be, reveals
the extent to which violence is being used as the weapon of choice by the CPI(M).
TP Chandrasekharan was one of the some prominent leaders of the CPI(M) who was
having second thoughts regarding their affiliation to the party after it lost
power mostly due to a series of scandals and highhandedness by its leaders
including instances of land grabbing by the party men. Police investigation
revealed that four attempts were made by the killer gang but only the last one
succeeded.
The investigation has already revealed the communist party’s
role in the dissident Marxist leader’s death. The attackers were not themselves
Marxists; they were the mafia who are very much part of the Kerala landscape. The
police have also traced the killing to a conspiracy hatched in the Marxist leaders’ conclave. It also found that
a local party leader took charge of the operation after the first two attempts
failed.
But the event should not be seen in isolation. In any case, the
party’s Idukki district secretary has already exposed the core of violence
around which the communist party has been functioning. North
Malabar, where the CPI(M) is the strongest, has had a long history
of political violence, most of which can be traced back to the party.
The history of the party has recently been revealed in the
autobiography of the former Marxist leader Madhavettan. Even before Independence, it seems, the
party was planning to build itself in the Malabar region of present day Kerala
through the murders of rival political leaders. At the top of the ‘list’ that
the communists prepared was the renowned Gandhian of Kerala, K Kelappan, also
known as the Kerala Gandhi.
The list also included top Congress leader K Madhava Menon
who was a Minister in the Congress Government under C Rajagopalachari when
Malabar was part of the then Madras Province. Though these proposed killings
were not carried out for one reason or the other, the stream of violence flows
through the history of the party’s political growth in Malabar. In the
beginning — that is, soon after Independence
when the Congress was in power — some attempts were made by the Congress to
counter the Marxist violence but New
Delhi soon gave up.
There were clashes between the Muslim League and the CPI(M) for
some time as both were building their power base but that too abated after the
League split with one faction going with the Marxists for some years. Finally, it
was the RSS that organised the people to stand up to this reign of violence. Consequently,
there was the most shocking incident of an RSS organiser, who was also a
teacher, being cut to pieces in his class in front of his students by the
Marxists.
Today when Kerala remembers the TP Chandrasekharan incident
where the killers hired by the Marxist party murdered the dissident communist
in broad daylight, the decades old martyrdom of the RSS activist comes to mind.
As the CPI(M) came to power in Kerala, alternating with the Congress, the
entire State Government machinery has been bent to serve the Marxist interest
and protect its cadres.
The favourite plan of action has been to weaken the
prosecution intentionally or threaten witnesses produced by the police and
thereby secure acquittals in court.
Of course much the same history is repeated wherever the
communists have ground level organisation. The Marxists were in power in West Bengal for 37 years continually. They captured
academic institutions, Government organisations, the police, and student unions
by force. Only the courage and commitment of Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool
Congress has finally freed the State from the clutches of the Marxists.
In addition, to the Marxists’ systematic use of violence to
impose their will on the common people in Kerala and West Bengal, we also have
the violent anti-State campaign that the CPI(M) had launched in the Telangana
region of Andhra Pradesh soon after Independence.
State-level action initiated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel put an early end to
the movement but top leaders of the CPI and later of the CPM like Sundarayya, T
Nagi Reddy, and others were honed in this organised violence and bloodshed.
This, after all, has been the pattern of communism not only
in India
but all over the globe. Mao Tse Tung’s communist movement in China had
resulted in the killing of at least 30 million Chinese during the ‘cultural
revolution’ as admitted by some of his successors themselves. At present in China, where 60
years of Communist rule is being celebrated, there are several intellectuals
who claim that thecount of victims from the Red massacre was far more than 30
million.
In Soviet Russia, when NS Khrushchev came to power in a
brief period of liberalism, he himself revealed that millions were massacred
under Joseph Stalin. The staged trials of other communist leaders by Stalin are
now well-documented. History also reveals that Lenin brought Stalin from Georgia into
the top leadership of the Communist Party for his expertise in eliminating
rivals.
Stalin finally eliminated almost every single member of the
group that had worked with Lenin to capture power in Moscow. They were all individually and
collectively victimised through staged trials and then executed without any
ceremony.
So, if Ms Banerjee is now digging up unmarked graves in West
Bengal while the UDF Government in Kerala is planning to prosecute Mr Mani, it
must be remembered that the trail of blood leads back to the founding leaders
of the communist parties whether they be in India,
China
or Soviet Russia.
